Director of Financial Assistance

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Leadership position responsible for the effective administration of all financial aid programs and policies for CMU students.  

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct and manage student financial aid operations and programs
  • Maintain institutional compliance for Title IV programs
  • Assure proper counsel and advice to students and their families about financial aid opportunities.
  • Oversee the maintenance and integrity of information on the financial aid web page.
  • Ensure CMU programs and operations are administered in compliance with federal, state and institutional guidelines.
  • Hire, train, and supervise student financial assistance staff.
  • Keep abreast of financial aid trends, technologies and best practices.
  • Work collaboratively with appropriate University personnel to review financial processes and improvements to gain efficiencies and maximize service to students.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree-Preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree-Required
  • Supervisor experience - Required
  • 3-5 years of financial aid or higher education administrative experience - Required
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of Prison Education Programs - Preferred

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

General knowledge of accounting principles and methods, data processing systems and computer software.

 

OTHER INFORMATION AND ATTRIBUTES:

Typical office setting.   Occasional weekend or evenings for special student events.
